Hello Everyone,

I have managed to save some money that would allow me to buy some of the Gtx 1060 or Rx580 Class cards. Now that we have quite a good number of DX12 titles to compare we can actually talk about the future-proof builds.

I wish to know your opinion as an expert or just user which will be the better option for me.
Currently, I have an R9 270x Which is OCed to match the performance of 1050ti. so 1050ti is out of the question.

I would like to know which of the following graphic cards would be better for me or Should I wait for VEGA or VOLTA? I can wait for them as My current Graphic Card is providing me with satisfactory results

My primary concern is DX12/ Vulkan performance.

My existing Specs
CPU: Core i5 4570
GPU: 270X vapor X 2GB (O.C core to 1.2GHZ and Mem at 1.5GHZ)
Ram: 1X8GB 2X4 GB
Motherboard: B85-M from ASUS
HDD: 2 TB Seagate
SSD: 512GB Samsung Evo 850
PSU: Antec 550W VP Series
Case : Cooler Master HAF 912 with 1x 200mm top, 1x 120mm side and 2x 120mm front
Monitor: Benq Full HD monitor

First and foremost I am from India so please don't suggest Newegg or Amazon global.

I will List down cards that am looking forward to and its cost

ASUS RX 580 4GB GDDR5 OC DUAL EDITION: Rs.19,075
SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 580 8GB GDDR5 OC PULSE : Rs.21,675

GAINWARD GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 : Rs.18,900 (currently out of stock)
ZOTAC GTX 1060 MINI 6GB GDDR5 : Rs.20,430
ZOTAC GTX 1060 MINI 3GB GDDR5 : Rs.16,100

The reason that I am confused is because Both AMD n NVIDIA have declared that they will be launching new GPU architecture soon. Also Tom's Hardware has now recommended 580 in place of 1060 for GPU.

Thank you for your time and suggestion in advance
:)

SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 580 8GB GDDR5 NITRO+ OC
over
SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 580 8GB GDDR5 OC PULSE

price difference is 5%.

or Should i wait for vega/volta?

Actually I haven't seen price drop for 480 series cards. Indian sellers are stubborn as hell. There are few sellers selling 270x 4GB models for around 44K INR approx 650$.

DO NOT BUY SAPPHIRE! I bought it and returned it today. This was second sapphire card I had , the shop replaced it for me. Both had the same issue. My pc was crashing after 10 minutes of playing or either crashing to desktop. I didn't had this issue with any nvidia card. Now i am buying the gtx 1070. Take the 1060 6gb if you can not afford the 1070. BUT STAY AWAY FROM AMD!

I have to strongly disagree with this.

I've never had any problems with any AMD card, nor with Sapphire. Ever.

While I *have* had dead Nvidia GPUs come my way, they were usually in PCs that I'd gotten used, and were already notably past their prime - one was, I think, 8 years old, and one was 11 years old. At that age, being fried wouldn't surprise me, especially given that the care taken (or lack thereof) of the systems they were installed in, before I acquired them, were unknowns to me.

I can't realistically say Nvidia or AMD, either one, is more prone to failure than the other.

I disagree. Gigabyte versions are very good. Performance is the same and they don't have the problems in the newest rx 580's with vram. My friend had Aorus it ran good at my rig , but both of sapphire were complete crap. Still i think 1060 is the better choice (it's not as bad as they as in the videos) personally i saw a better performance with these cards. Take 1060 or 1070. Vega will be priced for 500 euro in europe (custom probbably 550 euro).

Actually I have not seen that either at mu country - rx 480 pretty much disappeared from shops instead.
But I guess you can't count on lower prices in such case. Still, I would wait. Well, in fact, I am waiting (with my old gtx 660 onboard) to see who will have upper hand this time.

Interesting.

Although I don't have experience with NVIDIA for past 10 years (for desktop GPU as for laptop I wont be touching AMD GPU). My friend had ordered a 1060 from US which failed to work after RMA he faced same issue. Although 1st issue might have been caused by his crappy PSU. i told him to change it to ANTEC one . ( I dont understand why people spend so much money on mouse and keyboard but when it comes to PSU they buy some Chinese local brands).

on the other hand mine current card is AMD and Sapphire, I couldn't believe my luck when I bought it for almost 85% of its market price ( it was used one eight month old). Since then I have heavily overclocked it. I guess it is what people call Golden Chip. I haven't faced any issue till date. that is the main reason i am not in hurry to buy.

Still I have NVIDIA on my list because of 1.TEMPS 2. Zotac's 5 Year Warranty.
because here idle CPU temps are about 40*C - 45*C on stock cooler.
