Hello guys, I just got into overclocking by grabbing a 30$~ cooler from my country. I started off pretty easy on core and voltage 4.2ghz 1.2v and pushed it to 4.5GHZ 1.225V and my Aida 64 temps are around 65-70°C, may be a bit lower and a bit higher. Do you think I got lucky with my chip or forced it more than I should have. Need your advice!

System Specs:
i5 4690K
Msi Z97 PC MATE
Kingston Hyperx 1600MHZ 2x4 CL9
ASUS Strix GTX 970 C=1486 M=7001
Sandisk 240GB SSD
WD Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM
Cooler= Dark Freezer X120
PSU= Xigmatek X-Calibre 600W 80+

Depends if it's completely stable. Mine currently is set on 4.5Ghz/1.3 volts just because I would get the occasional crash in Battlefield 1 (for some reason Frostbite games are reallllllly good at seeing if your overclock is stable), I can get it stable for any other game at 4.6Ghz/1.295v but I mean .1Ghz is basically useless. I think you got a better than average chip.

UPDATE: After using it for a while I was able to stabilize 4.5GHZ 1.2V and it works like a charm. Changed the voltage setting to Adaptive, it seemed to help a good amount with the stability.

Stress test overnight if you want to be sure. Some consider stable as "well it hasn't crashed on me yet" and some consider 24+ hours of a stress test like prime95 as stable.

I have been using it for 3 days now and ran an 8 hour Aida64 that day I overclocked it, didn't crash on me yet.

I also have a 4690k@4.5ghz with around the same voltage. Mine isn't very finicky. I game in 1440p with ultra settings @144hz gsync enabled. Define stable? Been this way since I bought it forever ago...couple years?

It's been on air too it's whole life. Thermalright mux-120, usually hovers around 50c full load. Going to de-lid and do a custom water loop for my new Thermaltake p3 case and push higher.

CPU Mark 10284, single threaded score is 2703.

4690k@4.5
MSI z97 Gaming 5
Gskill Trident X 2400
EVGA GTX 1070 SC hitting 2113mhz gpu 4265mhz memory
Samsung 850 Evo 500gb
A really old Crucial ssd 120gb(back when they came out and cost alot! lol!)
Thermalright Mux-120 (TBH one of the best coolers out there...dunno why ppls shit run so hot...my case is open though..always has been)
PSU: Best buy special Thermaltake smart 650w....definitely upgrading as it was spur of the moment from an old 450w psu failure.

Pretty sure i5 haswells doing 4.5ghz+ is pretty damn common.
