I just installed an i7 4790k, with the default cooler.

Now, what would you suggest as a proper one to get? Here are some pictures of the CPU so you can see the space; I'm pretty sure the 4x4 RAM would have to be changed to one 16 or 2x8, it's unlikely that I can install a good cooler without needing some of that space...

What would you suggest? Need something solid, not necessarely top tier but fairly good!

Here is why the cryorig works with RAM. See how the heat pipes are bent. All cryorig's use this to degrees to work with RAM.

Alright thanks to both! Just one last question tho: I have a mobo Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H, does irt have 2 CPU fan slots? The cooler of the old CPU had only one fan so I never worried about checking and the default for the 4790 obviously has one fan as well.
It probably sounds like a dumb question, but I never noticed another CPU fan socket around!

By a splitter you mean something to drive 2 fan plugs into one CPU header?

EDIT: yes, that's what you meant, googled it, thanks mate!
EDIT2: it seems like there's already one in the box?? https://youtu.be/xVzI8qergzg?t=2m47s

$78.95 at Neweggs https://pcpartpicker.com/product/xCL7YJ/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd15s

Cheaper than R1 Universal and deliver equal/slightly better performance with just one fan. Zero RAM clearance issue, zero first PCI-E slot issue. Note, it's also shorter (160mm) than R1 Universal (168.5mm) which means there are more cases that can accept it.

Here's a video how it has no RAM clearance issue

If you ever consider upgrade to X99 platform in the future, it got that covered as well. It doesn't offset to the back like some other competitors so you can have all 8 DIMM free.

If you cant get a fan splitter right away you could use one of the adjustable system fans headers. Set the system fan to an average of what the other fans rpm pushes. The one on the system fan should be the one pulling as the push fan has the most effect. may take a few weeks to get a spitter.

Actually, the R1 Universal already come with a splitter in the box, which is kinda cool; otherwise I found several on Amazon anyway!

Sure looks so, Amazon is delivering tomorrow and I can't wait.

Honestly, it's too bad that Cryorig is not so well known, or at least not as much as I expected since their products do seem quite amazing.
