I'm currently in search for a cpu cooler that will fit my corsair carbide 300r and the z270 motherboard. I had recently bought the thermaltake NiC5 and Thermaltake silent frio 12, but both of them didn't fit the motherboard for some reason. Which corsair single radiator liquid cooler would fit the z270 motherboard? I appreciate any feedback to this issue.
Thank you.

Actually, Corsair has just released the H-45. It's cheaper than the H-50,but easily outperforms the H-60. The best 120mm liquid cooler is the H-80i GT. Comes in just under the performance levels of the h100i.

Funny, but Corsair clearly states the new 300R fits upto 280mm coolers up top. Dunno if that's a lie, or if Corsair has done what it usually does, and revamp a version with the same name.

I wouldn't go that route. The 300r come stock with a single 140mm intake and 120mm exhaust, which isn't all that good for airflow. Personally, for the price of single fan aios, you'd be better off, especially with a 7700k, spending a little more and going for dual fan aios. Corsair sells decent aios, but really crappy fans, consequently you get decent performance, at the cost of a lot of fan volume. I'd move that single 120mm to the intake and use a dual fan aio up top. This would (I own one) be my choice. Extremely quiet, excellent performance. Runs on silent mode the best.
CPU Cooler: NZXT - Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($115.98 @ Jet)

This'll give you 2x intakes and 2x exhaust fans, which is plenty for that case.

Theres no real reason to get a 120mm water cooler, they are easily outperformed by air.
Something like the Cryorig H7 should fit just fine.

I mean, I did manage to get my h100i to fit back when I had my Phenom II (Cooler is still in there now). Not that I recommend one.

It probably is a 300R version 2, doing what Corsair does so well and not really saying there's a fix but capitalizing on its 300R name without making the older case seem bad. The TXv2 vrs the several CX revisions come to mind.
If it took modification to get a 240mm up top, trying to get a 280mm up top would be a serious pain, if at all possible without serious modifications, so something was changed
