Well I would like ethernet, but my house is old and it doesn't have ethernet. Wiring it across the house would be too expensive.

Older houses can be much easier to run ethernet. Most have basements or attics which allow cross house access. But, if you can't run ethernet cable, the next best would be to try powerline network adapters. There are versions that have WIFI, if you MUST have a WIFI signal.

I found the TP-Link RE450 and it seems to act both as a powerline adapter with a gigabit port and a wifi extender. Would that be a good choice?
