Can't get past +30 core clock on GTX 970 FTW card

What the title says.

I have been looking around and have seen a number of posts about 970 FTW getting +100 or +125 on the core. Getting the card to over 1500 mhz. That is without touching voltage.

My Temperatures are below 70.
I set power target to 110% - the max
I have tried upping voltage a little but that didn't make a difference.

Any idea why my card doesn't want to run a faster clock speed?

I saw another posting about different version of FTW cards something about ACX vs ACX+. Not sure if that matters.

Solution
My old ATI XFX HD 5770 would overclock the core 106 MHz over the stock frequency so chips can vary wildly when it comes to overclocking.

EDIT: Edited the core frequency to 106 MHz instead of 156 MHz. The core frequency stock was 850 MHz and would be stable at 956 MHz.

Not all chips will overclock the same. This means that some chips will only go 15-20 MHz over stock and others will be great overclockers and hit 100-200+ Mhz over stock. This is referred to as the silicon lottery, You seem to have lost that lottery.

As an example my AMD HD 7970 only hits 40 MHZ over the 925 MHz stock and remains stable but yet some hit 1000+ MHz. I too lost the lottery when it came to my gaming card.

Ah yeah I knew cards varied. I just didn't think they had that wide of a range in the lottery
