Hello, I have a z800 hp workstation with 850w power supply. I want to get a gfx card with one 6 pin adapter. I read that the z800 has 2 6 pin adapters on the PSU to hook up to the graphics card, where is the 6 pin cables located? Is there a picture I can see of the cables and where they are located?
Thanks, and sorry for the writing I'm in a rush.

You can't upgrade those PSU's , they are completely non - standard because they're specifically designed to run dual CPU systems.

I would say honestly , a twin molex to 6 pin will be fine IMO.
This is a delta manufactured unit were talking about , its going to be very very good quality.

Most prebuilt workstation PCs come with a non-standard PSU, so theres a chance your PSU doesn't have two 6 pin connectors. Here's how they should look like (Note that your may be a different colour) 6 pin

Okay I think I found 2 4 pin power plugs, I read that I need a double 4 pin mole to 6 pin. Is that correct?

Edit: It says P8 on the wire don't know if that means anything...

I have a pcie 2 16x and whole bunch of other pcie slots. But is that the power plug and then I get a molex 4 pin to 6?

Adapter to change the 4 pin molex to 6 pin for the gfx card?

I mean you could get a Molex to PCI E cable, but if i would be completely honest, i would recommend to get a new PSU all together, it will save you some hassle in the future if you plan on upgrading your PC even more.

A Nvidia GTS 450 1gb ddr5. Might upgrade in the future, but wanted to have decent gaming and rendering for 25 dollars. I have a Nvidia NVS 295 in it now bUT doesn't need a pcie power plug so I wanna get something strong.

One last question and im sure it doesnt matter and im just being nervous as it is my first graphics card I install myself, but the 4 pin adapter on my pc has 4 pins and the molex adapter has 3 pins, will that not fit then or does that 4th pin mean nothing? If you dont know what im talking about i'll upload a picture of the 4 pin adapter on the pc.

I agree that you are fine as is and there is no reason to change what you have.

The reason for 4 pin, 6 pin and 8 pin connectors is to limit the current flowing through a single wire connector. The 6 pin has more 12V wires than the 4 pin, the 8 has more than the 6.

If you ever need to get a MOLEX to PCIe connector again (and for anyone reading this thread) it it better to get the two 4-pin molex to single 6-pin because that limits the current through the 12V connector at the 4-pin molex end. But it is no big deal. Just make sure you have the single 4 pin end of the connector solidly inserted. If you need to plug/unplug many times be careful the socket does not get lose, replace if it does.

There was a lot of discussion on this when the 6 pin AMD RX 480 came out and people measured that both the 6-pin connector and the MB were handling more current than they should. Net was not one was really concerned on the 6-pin draw but the amps coming from the MB got a bit uncomfortable. https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Power-Consumption-Concerns-Radeon-RX-480/Overclocking-Current-Testing
