I was just watching a YouTube video then I heard a pop followed shortly by a louder secondary pop and then all power to my computer was gone and would not come back on and I was curious about what could have caused it, and there wasn't a thunder storm in the area at the time and my specs are 6700k, ASUS Maximus XI (the z170 board I had previously craped out and I got z270 in case I wanted to get a 7700k in the future and take advantage of octane) 32gb corsair ram, 960 pro m.2 ssd 256 and a mashup of random old drives I had and the corsair HX850i psu

It's unfortunate but sometimes a psu will just stop working. The usual way this happens it will overheat. This could happen if the fan on it stops working. Or if is trying to put out more power then it is rated for.

If it is under warranty you could always send it in. If old i guess you need a new one. Sorry this happened to you.
