Monitoring intermittent ISP

I have a large cable company for an ISP. Our Wifi is intermittent but the signal from the linksys router is stable.

I use a Wifi analyzer app on my phone to monitor the WiFi signal. It doesn't have a log. Is there a W8 program that monitors with a log?

Plus how can I monitor that there is actually data coming in on the signal? Isn't the signal just a vessel for the ISP data?

From PM:
So if there a program to monitor
ISP
Modem
Router
NIC card
And find the problem?

If you only have one computer it is difficult. Start by using a wired connection. Are there any issues then? If so, then it could be modem, router, computer. You can then either test with a different computer (still wired) or take the router out of the chain and connect directly to the modem. I would probably power off the modem then swap connections. If that is good, then you have to look at the router. Start with a factory reset and verify the firmware is up-to-date. Verify airflow to the router, some are known to overheat.

There is no magic bullet. It is process of elimination and replacement.

Unless you are connected by ethernet cable, you can't really say it is an intermittent ISP. The ISP may be fine. IF multiple wired devices have problems. then you have to look at the modem, router or ISP. One device on WIFI has too many variables.
