I think the biggest is question is how much audio video rendering you do. Do you use CUDA enabled rendering such as blender? And do you use color managed workspaces? If you cannot answer these questions, chances are you are not in need of what the Quadro and Firepro series are designed for.

Also, if you are using a...

You need to determine what type of hardware is optimized for your software. If your software uses OpenCL, then the AMD cards are better than NVIDIA. If the software uses CUDA, then you have go NVIDIA. Quadro cards are more expensive for similar hardware specs. They have drivers that are optimized for professional applications. GTX cards have drivers that are optimized for games.

Although you are doing audio and video rendering, I would still get a Geforce card because they look a lot cheaper. My Geforce card has 4GB of vram, and a quadro gpu of the same price has only 2GB. What do you do more of, gaming or editing?

Also, if you are using a color managed workspace, then you absolutely need a quadro card if you decide on nvidia. Nvidia only allows for color managed work environments on their quadro series. They also do not allow 10bpc on geforce cards. (unless they are gaming in HDR codec's)

Like i said before, if you know what some of this stuff means, you may need quadro, if not you'll be fine with Geforce. Also, pascal and maxwell perform about the same in CUDA accelerated programs. so maybe save some money and got GTX 9xx series
