I tried putting a new graphics card in recently(EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1050ti), and it wouldn't boot up past the first screen-with gigabyte logos on and bios etc. I'm not sure if it crashed because it kept beeping every 20-30 seconds. Basically I asked about it on the forum and I believe I have to update my BIOS- I've checked the gigabyte site and found my model and there are some downloads to choose from- the most recent is in BETA, (f6e) Which should I download- f5? or earlier versions. I have f2 I think. And what would be the best way of installing the updated BIOS- flash drive? How? I am not amazing at computers so I don't really know to much.

Solution

Download the bios file and extract the zip file to the desktop somewhere.
Insert your USB stick into one of the rear USB ports (motherboard USB port)
Format the stick to FAT32 and copy the bios file to it (not the zip file) you dont need the Efiflash file or the autoexec file.
Reboot to the bios itself with your USB stick still inserted.
start QFlash and follow the instructions.

Personally I would use F6e due to what it updates.

Are you sure your board is rev 1.0 ?

Also did you download the correct revision board bios ? there quite a few revisions of that board.

Also, just had a look at the bios files myself, I can see they changed the size, quite dramatically too, it might be worth flashing each bios one at a time, so if you are on F2 at the moment, flash F3 first, then F4, F5, F6e

I discovered I'm actually F3. Its a REV 1 it says on the Motherboard itself. When you say flashing- what do you mean- updating? I just don't to mess this up. I guess i'll try f4.

yes, updating, flashing is the same thing, I had a look at the bios files again, they are all the same for rev 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2, they only change when you get to rev 3.

So start by flashing F4, then F5 and F6e.
