Lenovo Y50 With External Monitor

I have been connecting my Y50 UHD to an external monitor at 1920x1080. However, I am struggling with the refresh rate. On the laptop, the refresh rate is locked at 48Hz, which is fine. However, my monitor supports up to 60Hz and it is stuck at 48Hz as well. Please help!

Managed to solve the issue. If you duplicate the displays, you will be limited to the refresh rate of the built in display. By forcing the laptop to use only the external monitor, I was able to get 60Hz.
