Hi. I'm still on Windows 7 and really don't want to go to 10 until I really have to. I like Windows 7. Anyways, for a long time now I've had Comodo Firewall and although it doesn't appear to slow my computer in any way I'm wondering if a firewall is really even needed these days.

Could I just use the Windows built in firewall rather than Comodo? I heard though that the Windows firewall doesn't have outbound protection.

Thanks :)

The Windows 7 firewall can be configured for Outbound as well if you want to fiddle with configuring it but It will be painful.

If you run a virus scanner that should protect you from malicious outbound traffic from your PC though.

Just depends how much protection you want to be honest. I would stay with the better firewall.

People will say you don't need an AV which is utter crap. They usually use the I don't go to sites like that or click random links, etc as the reason. Thats like saying I don't use protection when I have sex because I date clean cut people. lol You may not need to pay for an AV but not running one is just silly.

Do I have to have it running in the background? It doesn't seem to slow my computer down any. I have an ASUS P8167, i52500k, 8 gigs, Windows 7, etc. It's a fast computer for what I do, basically watching Youtube and surfing the internet. I'm not a gamer at all.
