Following this thread, I still have a doubt about placing the OS in M.2 (256GB) or in SSD (512GB)?

Hello!
Following this thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2868709/whats-difference-ssd.html

About "Whats the difference between m.2 and SSD?"
I understood the reply and solution but I still have a doubt (maybe an obvious one due to my ignorance in the subject) where the OS will run better or will have a better performance:
Inside the M.2 Sata III (256 GB)? or Samsung 850Evo SSD (500GB)?
Talking about Windows 10 Pro.

Thanks in advanced!

Solution
With a motherboard that supports it, and an OS that supports NVMe, the performance of the M.2 should be 2 to 3X the performance of the SATA SSD. 256GB should be enough for most applications and the OS. Infrequently used applications, like income tax software, can be custom installed to the SATA SSD.

Thanks! So, it's better to use M.2 as a primary driver placing OS and important apps.
Should I buy a cheaper 256 GB SSD (instead of samsung 850evo) to install and use light weigth apps? Or is it better to buy a SSD Samsung 850Evo?

It's for an Acer Aspire E15 Laptop that comes with M.2 SATA III 256GB and has an empty slot to place a SSD.

Thanks in advanced

Sure, I understand. I was saying to buy a SSD as secondary driver (leaving the M.2 that comes with the laptop as a primary driver) but you are right. I should use what comes with the laptop and use an external hard drive for media or instead replace the primary M.2 with a Samsung 512 M.2 drive.

Many thanks!
