hello,
hope you doing well, i just got my 1060 3g gtx gpu and when i reach the point where i need to plug the PCI-E i only found 6 pin on my gpu. this is my first build and when i try to search about htis issue most of the people are having the exact opposite problem. so, my power supply have a PCI-E connector that have two 8 PCI-E pins, but there is only 6 pin on my gpu.

my question is does this mean that i only need to plug in 6 of the 8 pin? i am watching a video and in the video the gpu he is having have a 6 pins and an 8 pins?

so does that mean that i only need to plug 6 pins to the gpu?

Different GPUs require different number and type of power plugs, even within single model. The fact that some other 1060 requires 8 pin plug (or whatever) means nothing. If your card just has single 6-pin header, then it requires just 6-pin plug and nothing more. It is just that simple.

If your GPU does have one 6-pin socket then it needs only a 6-pin plug from the PSU. Almost all PSUs come with 8-Pin cables that are in reality a 6-Pin plug plus a 2-Pin add-on that you only connect when you want to use all 8-pins. If you only want to use 6-Pins then you don't connect that 2-Pin cable.
