Hello, i am getting a CPU fan error, and CPU overheating message after boot. My PC stays on long enough to get into BIOS, BIOS says the CPU temp is 85° celcius. Then it shuts down to protect the cpu from what ive read. I have a corsair H100 hydro cooler. I removed the heat sink from the CPU, placed a fan on it to help cool it down. I removed power and pressed the power button for 10 seconds then i removed the CPU. There are no bent pins, everything looks great. So i put it back in and left the heat sink off. I left the fan on blowing on it. And pwered the PC back on and jumped back into BIOS to check the temp. It was back at 85° celcius. So i though maybe it was just getting a false reading, so i powered it off and went to remove the CPU, only to find it was definitly NOT a false reading. That was one very hot CPU. What could be causing this? This is not a new build. I built my PC back in 2012. Ive only had 1 stick of RAM go bad in 5 years until this.

My build:

Corsair TX750
Intel i7-960 3.2 GHz
Asus sabertooth X58
MSI radeon HD 5770
Corsair XMS 4GB DDR3 x2
Corsair H100 hydro cooler
