Hi there,

I have an Antec Neo ECO 620C 620w PSU, and I am thinking of upgrading my GPU to a Gigabyte Winforce 970 Extreme. My PSU has a 6 and a 6+2 pin PCIE connection, but this GPU needs two 6+2 pin connections. However, my PSU allows for up to 48A on the +12V rail. Does this make it possible (and safe) to use an adapter to supply the required power? It has 3 yellow wires going to each 6PIN, if that helps.

System Specs (in terms of power consumption) are:
2x 7.2K HDDs
ATX board
i5-2400 (95W) boosted to 3.8GHz
10GB RAM (2X4gb, 2X1GB)
4x 120mm fans
Winforce GTX 770 o/c to 1323 core and 7800 memory

An eclectic gaming PC I know, but got lots of parts from mates!

Thanks in advance

Hi - No need to buy a new PSU, that PSU has...

Just buy a new psu. Adapter are not recommended. Also why a 970 and not something like a rx 480 or 1060 they are a bit better and only need 1 connector (depends on the card).

Hi - No need to buy a new PSU, that PSU has more than enough power for a sys with a gtx 970. In
fact newer versions of that PSU include two 6+2 pin pcie cables. The PSU has plenty more +12v amps
available than your system needs.

So, an adapter is the way to go. I realise you are not in the US, but you can find something like these locally
where you are;

Disagreed, that power supply is lacking that connector for a reason.

Besides that you have used that psu for a while, quality of the unit degrades with time and lets be honest the neo eco isn't the most reliable unit.
Last, wattage and Amp specifications are meaningless, its about whats under the hood.

Wrong - that Seasonic built PSU has 48 +12v amps available for a sytem that needs ~28 +12v amps, that
identical PSU (Seasonic built with 48 +12v amps, same model #) now includes two 6+2 pcie connectors.
No need for the OP to spend more money

His current gtx770 consumes more power than the gtx970
