Specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7Ghz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 4GB GDDR5
PSU: Tacens Radix VII AG 600W 80 Plus Silver
Motherboard: AsRock FM2A88M Extreme4+
Ram: 8GB
SO: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bits

Hi everyone.
These days I'm getting a red screen crash/freeze while playing, forcing me to press the reset button. This happened me while playing The Division, like 2-3 times. I can play a couple hours and nothing happens, or play 30min-1h and get a red screen (randomly).
I play more games, but they are less demanding (LoL, Heroes of the Storm, CS:GO, Guild Wars 2, Alice Madness Returns), and I haven't had any problems while playing them.

Temps are ok:
- CPU: 45ºC idle. 64ºC load.
- GPU: 50ºC idle. 70ºC load.

I tried to stress both CPU and GPU with Prime95, Kombustor, Heaven Benchmark and FurMark. Results are OK too, with temperatures as I said above.

Thanks!

go to windows event viewer > Application and system logs (to see what causes it) filter with critical and errors. look at the most recent ones.

Did you update the graphic card driver and/or windows update?

Hi there,

It's correct what Th3 P00r said, but understanding the error messages is not up to anyone ! post the latest errors here and someone might translate them !

I would look for physical influences like broken caps... Random breakdown is more related to hardware failure and fluctuating temperatures...
just look for capacitors that are swollen, Reseat your memory modules, check for dust on places like the fan-airways !

Let us know,
Cheers, Louise.

Hi, thanks both for answering!
There are 3 Critical, from the three resets after the red screen (I think):

"system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first"

And Errors:

And more.

I updated Crimson drivers today, but I haven't played yet...
As for Windows Update, I always update whenever there is one.

About fluctuating temperatures, I've been checking them and they are fine :\
"Reset your memory modules" what does that mean? Like, just take them out and put them again? I'll do that too and clean any dust today.
Thanks :)

Okay, I'll try that! Thanks!

But I haven't overclocked or modified in any way my GPU, and I don't know much about that :\
Also, I have been playing with my RX 480 since last September with no problems...

Is there anything weird in that image?

Thanks!

Nothing wrong at all. But i ruled out in my case that even the stock frequencies made my pc to crash just like yours. My stock frequencies are 1250 mhz for core and 1750 mhz for memory (like yours). I checked the Bios internals and inspected the timings, then changed the frequency to 1880 mhz or higher where the timings are loosened and haven;t crashed yet.
I 'll be following this thread since i get the same errors in Event Viewer and still i am not sure whether the memory clocks are the ones to blame or it ;s just a coincidence-correlation

Hi. I've been using this PC since 2015 (except the RX 480), so I don't think it's about that, but anyways I took some photos of my BIOS settings:

Again, I don't know much about overclocking, timings, voltage, etc... So If you see anything weird or wrong in the photos please tell me :)
