Alright, kind of at a loss here. I've got an older gigabyte board that has always booted just fine, BIOS was accessible and had no problems with it until yesterday after a USB 3.0 pci-e device was installed. It's hard to believe that this is the cause of the issue but here is the timeline of events:

-computer shutdown and power removed (performed as I've always done to open up the case)
-PCI-e USB 3.0 interface installed
-booted into windows
-updated drivers for USB 3.0 interface
-rebooted into windows
-noticed that my on-board audio wasn't on anymore
-rebooted and tried to access BIOS settings (DEL key)
-goes to blank screen with blinking cursor and does not respond to any key presses
-manual restart
-computer posts but now it's boot priorities are lost so a restart again
-F12 successfully opens boot menu and I can boot into whichever drive just fine
-I use Gigabyte's @BIOS utility to update and flash BIOS and it shows as successful
-still no BIOS settings (just a blank screen with cursor again)
-use the @BIOS again and it shows the BIOS being up-to-date
-and now I'm here

Not sure what went wrong where but it's frustrating considering I cannot access the settings to get on board audio back up, and well, quite frankly having to open the boot menu to manually select the correct drive for booting is getting old fast. I've perused the interwebs looking for an answer and yes I have already cleared CMOS and tried to POST with no HD's or GPU plugged in. It's almost as if the BIOS settings menu was cleared out. I am currently using the computer now and everything is working fine, aside from the obvious issues with not being able to access BIOS settings. I did back-up the BIOS defaults to the HDD but cannot even load them considering I cannot access the setting utility.

Anyone have any suggestions? A call to gigabyte cs is probably next.

Keep in mind, although this isn't my main computer, I'd like to explore options before condemning the board altogether. Is there a method to re-flash BIOS that doesn't involve @BIOS?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply Calvin! Unfortunately not only do I know where to buy batteries but the battery was replaced about a month prior to my issue. But nonetheless, thanks for the effort.
