upgrade to 6950x or wait

Trying to figure out if I should upgrade from my 5820k OC to 4.5 to the 6950x or wait for the possible i9 in first quarter of next year. All of my other components are high end. I have 128 gigs of ram and a gtx 1080 ti. I run about 30 or so virtual machines at my peak workload, 3 of those are servers. My computer runs all of them decently, but after I start making all 3 of the virtual servers work hard, that is when I notice my cpu getting a bit overwhelmed. So just trying to see if I should upgrade my cpu or wait my storage is also okay for now I think. I have a large nvme ssd and about 16TB of storage. Cost isn't a factor, I just want it to work good.

5820K has a passmark rating of 13k.
6950K is 20k, a nice improvement.
Since I think it is compatible with your motherboard, I think I would go that way since you have a need now.
Implementation should be safe and trivial.

The price is daunting but since that is not a factor, go ahead.

Upcoming I9 may well perform better, but that is in an uncertain future.
If you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.
