Wireless association failed

Hi everyone, I own a Sony Vaio with Vista installed and an Intel internet software. My wifi connection has been working fine until a few evenings ago, when it wouldn't connect anymore. I rebooted my modem and my laptop, but since then my laptop hasn't been able to connect to ANY wireless connection, although it works just alright if I use the Ethernet cable. The error message I get is always the same: "Wireless association failed because Windows didn't get any response from the wireless routes or access point".

I've tried different solutions, including these, with no success. I wanted to point out that it won't connect even on safe mode with networking enabled. The Intel diagnostic test indeed points out an association problem, yet the solutions suggested are useless for my case, as I've already checked if I got the SSID and pw right. I thought of a virus, but my antivirus and malwarebytes haven't detected any. If I try updating the network driver from devices manager, the process goes on with no results.

I'm getting desperate, so I really look forward to any possible idea on how to solve this.
