Hey guys so I have had my gaming pc for two and half years now and have absolutely loved it. I am now starting to consider upgrades and am wondering which components would give me the most substantial difference in performance. Would getting another graphics card and running it SLI make my setup any better? More powerful Intel CPU? SSD? More Ram?

Here are my current specs:
Zotac GeForce GTX 970
Crucial Ballistix 8GB RAM
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU fan
AMD FX6300 6 Core
XFX 650 PSU
Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD
Zalman Z9 Case
Gigabyte 970A-UD3P AM3+ Motherboard

If you have any brand/model recommendations that would be great too, thanks guys! :D

This review was all done at 2K like you are using which does stress the GPU more. The FX6300 while not a great CPU, never was, isn't holding your gaming back a ton at 2K.

The CPU inst great you will want to upgrade that but since you play at 2K you probably can make it through one more GPU upgrade by getting a GTX...
What resolution do you game at, 1080p, 1440p, 4k? Whats the ballpark budget for the upgrade?

The single upgrade that would have the most impact would be a graphics card. My advice is wait until Computex is over June 3rd and see when AMD's Vega is coming out. I'm not saying you should get Vega but at this point with no issues its so close you might as well check it out prior.

@JamesSneed I am currently running 2560x1080 as I just got a new 21:9 ultrawide curved monitor, I'll have a look at the graphics card you mentioned, would it be a viable upgrade over my current card?

@boosted1g Ahh I see :D :D , So this would also mean I need to get a new motherboard with the correct socket? :(

Thanks for quick response guys

Correct, you will need new cpu, motherboard and new memory (modern platforms are now using DDR4 memory)

And as I stated the upcoming graphics cars are irrelevant because you are already maxed out. If your car can only go 80mph doesnt matter if you have 120 or 170 mph rated tires.....your still going to top out at 80 mph.

The CPU inst great you will want to upgrade that but since you play at 2K you probably can make it through one more GPU upgrade by getting a GTX 1070 which is great at 2K or waiting on Vega.
