hi all, i'm having an issue after the latest windows 10 update (the ransomware one) where I can no longer connect to my home WIFI network. well, actually I can, but more on that later.

it started happening after the last batch of windows 10 updates. I run a self-built PC and my Wifi card is the Qualcomm Atheros AR938x Wireless Network Adapter.

I also use TinyWall as a firewall. I've been beating my head against the wall for the past few days trying to resolve this issue, tried shutting down TinyWall, reinstalling my wifi drivers - nothing. Curiously enough, when I tried ipconfig /release, I got a weird message saying

"No operation can be performed on Ethernet while it has its media disconnected.
No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 12 while it has its media disconnected.

Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 12:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :"

Which to me seems weird, because I am right now using this exact same computer and wifi card to connect to the internet and type this message.

How I got it to work again - on a whim I decided to fully disable windows firewall and try to connect. it worked! strangely enough windows firewall keeps turning itself back on despite any input from me, not sure if that's a windows feature or not but it's pretty frustrating.

even after it turns back on, i'm able to connect and use the internet normally.....for about 20-30 minutes. then I have to perform this same "fix" again by disconnecting, disabling windows firewall, and then reconnecting.

wondering if anyone has an ideas on a more permanent fix, I've searched the forums and can't find anything similar to my specific issue.
