As the title suggests, I'm trying to figure out how to update the bios on my ASRock board. The file provided http:// has a zip file that gets unzipped into another folder than contains AB35P4_2.5. I'm confused as to what needs to be on the flashdrive. Is it the Zip file, the unzipped folder containing the file, or the actual AB35P4_2.5 file fully removed from any folders? To be specific, I was going to use the instant flash utility in the UEFI menu as I hear that is the most reliable.

Thanks!

Solution
Unzip the zip file, and just copy the bios file alone onto an empty fat32 USB stick, not in any folders, just on the root of the drive, reboot to the bios and flash.

I did, but again my question I guess is will that instant flash read the Zip file (akin to flashing stuff on android) or does the package need to be extracted? The pictures included in that tutorial show files with .exe extensions which is my confusion.

Have you had any bricking issues before? I'm always hesitant to update that stuff but the version on my board is 1.4 and the update available is 2.5 so I presume there have been a good amount of changes in beteween.

I believe 2.5 is ok, it was 2.1 or 2.2 that had the problems, I dont have the board myself, its just what ive read, however, I do recommend you load bios defaults first, then save and exit and reboot back to the bios before flashing, never flash with any overclocked settings regardless of how stable you think it is.

Thanks, I actually don't have any overclocks going in the BIOS so I should be good there
