Ryzen vs intel

AMD has more cores/thread and intel has higher GHz (idk if higher is the right word)

It seems like the general consense is AMD is better for things like streaming and video editing and intel is still superior in gaming performance.

Also, it seems that people are saying that AMD is more future proof due to its many threads and cores.

I stream and game, which would be better for me?

Thank you.

i7 will push more FPS.

Ryzen will easily do over 60 FPS at whatever resolution, and will be...
If you stream and game and aren't pushing a 144 Hz 1080p monitor, something like a Ryzen 1600 would be more than enough for you, and an i5 is likely too little for smooth performance doing both (an i7 would be recommended for the streaming use-case).

Higher resolution monitors pretty much make the higher Intel gaming performance a mute point as the GPU is usually the holdback @ 1440 or 4k.

My total budget (for only computer parts + OS) is ~$1500. An AMD - Ryzen 7 1700X 3.4GHz 8-Core Processor or Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor were the CPUs that were selected, which would be better for gaming and streaming?

Ryzen will easily do over 60 FPS at whatever resolution, and will be the faster of the two at things that load up multiple cores. For a gaming/streaming workload, you could just stick with a 1600/1600x 6-core.
