Why are the RX 480 and RX 580 so expensive now?

For a card that barely surpasses the gtx 1060, it costs around 200-300 dollars more. Why? I remember them being a reasonable 200-300 dollars but why are they hovering around the 400-500 point now?

Presumably they are expensive as they are selling out from mainstream retailers due to a new surge in mining activity. This leaves a niche for 3rd parties to ramp up the price of the cards.

Notice where it says "Out of Stock" as well as 'Not Available"
Obviously thats not sold from newegg, but a third party that gouging the buyer.
