Ryzen R7 1700 Or 17-7700k Processor?

Ryzen R7 1700 Or 17-7700k Processor - My Budget Is not very high as both of these processor's available here at same price

So Which One Is More Better For Me
1) i use software's such as NUKE,AFTER EFFECTS ,MAYA FOR RENDERING
2) i usually need it for gaming purpose as well

can someone suggest which is better for me ?

If you don't just game, Ryzen, no doubt. Even if you just gamed, i would recommend Ryzen, it's not much slower and it has a lot more punch should you need it. Plus the platform (motherboard) for Ryzen is way cheaper (a B350 mobo for Ryzen can be had for not even €100, while a Z270 for the i7 goes from €150 or so), and the socket will stay for some time (so there's a CPU upgrade path down the road). I have a Ryzen 1700 and i couldn't be happier :)

I dont agree ryzen is the way to go nomatter what you use it for.Gaming it will be a few fps slower but you would never beable to tell the difference.It is also more future proof games are already out that utilize more then 4 cores i would not at this point in time buy a 4 core cpu for gaming at the very least get a ryzen r5 6 core.

not a few fps, VERY noticeable if you have a high refresh monitor

by the time games use more than 4 cores the ryzen would be obsolete, so look at current performance not some wacky "what if" less you repeat the FX story all over again

most online games only use 1 - 2 cores

the vast majority of games only use 1 - 4 cores


games that use more are rare

In gaming, the difference you would see between 7700k and 1700 in frame rates will not be noticeable, and it will only be in CPU bound scenarios in 1080p. That is if you have a 1080ti on 1080p or play on very low detail, have a high refresh monitor and can notice a 10-20fps difference in the range of 100+ fps. So the difference is not noticeable and it happens in a very specific scenario.

However, in any other work 1700 is considerably faster. It is about 50-70% faster than 7700k depending on which software you use.

yes the ryzen is better at work, but struggles to reach higher fps levels. It is decent if all you care about is 60hz gaming


but it is weaker than unlocked i5's, so it is not even close to a i7 7700k in gaming
that combined with it's low overclocking headroom leave it far behind with high end gpu's


Even tom's agrees in their review:

"The 1700 performs well in heavily threaded workloads, but lags behind Intel's quad cores in most gaming scenarios."



So yes its a fact, gaming > i7

work > ryzen

What do you mean by the time ive already stated there are quite a few games out now that uses more then 4 cores.Ill take a few fps hit for smoother gameplay anyday.I upgraded from an i5-3570k to a 3930k for the extra 2 cores basically i had the same raw numbers but gameplay in certain cpu related situations smoothed out like butter. 2 years ago i would agree with you but it is simply not true anymore.I would never buy a 4 core cpu ive seen it first hand they are on the way out,Just a few games i know that deff use more then 4 cores

Battlefield 1
Overwatch
Battlefront
fallout 4
GTA 5
The division
Battlefield hardline
just to name a few

lets not act like games are not coming out that do not use more then 4 thats just false period.Like i said ryzen is more future proof then any 4 core i5 by far

Maybe you should do your research having 4 cores and 4 threads is not the same you only get a percentage of what a real core can do since it uses recources and slows it by alot.I would also advise you on your use of reading comprehension nowhere did i say anything about an i7 i was talking about the i5's but even so a 4 core i7 is still not as future proof as a ryzen 6 or 8 core.
