Hi guys,

I can't decide between the RX 580 8gb or the GTX 1060 6gb,
I have watched some reviews and the competitions is tight, in some reviews the RX580 performed better from the gtx 1060 and in the others it was the opposite

the CPU i have is the i7 7700k if that helps :)

Thank you

Solution
I would probably go with the 1060 6gb then, as the adobe suite has great CUDA support, so the 1060 will be very useful for accelerating your work.

The cpu is one of the best you can get for gaming nowdays (but i guess you already knew that) xP

If you want the absolute max fps between the 2 check which plays better on the games you want to use them for (generaly hitman and ashes love amd)

But i would say thiese cards are so close you can just pick the one you like from features like shadowplay gamestream or amd freesync radeon chill

Personally im an nvidia fanboy so i would pick the 1060 xP
But for the same price the 580 is undeniably the better value (only compute performance)

However here in Hungary the rx 580(8gb) cost generaly about 25-30% more than the 1060(6gb) for that price diff i wouldnt recommend it anymore

I had two sapphires of rx 580 nitro + , both was defected. One couldn't atchieve 1411 mhz (stock second bios speed) it went up to 1340 mhz stable.... first bios mode. Second one very simmilar thing. One more thing , don't pair it with pentium g4560.

I do play a wide variant of games like Strategies (CIV, Total War franchise) and other Open world games (FarCry, Fallout, etc. etc.)

But I should or must add, that this pc build is going to be a Workstation mainly, working on CAD drawings, and 3d Renderings in Revit Architecture and 3ds MAX, also I'll be using Adobes' softwares (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, LightRoom)

I mentioned which CPU I'll have, I should also add that I'll have 32 GB of RAM, if not more in the longrun :)

haha, I'll let it open for some more time :)

Btw, how come you had two ? Did you use them both at the same time? Cuz I watched a review where he showed that installing two RX graphics slows down the GPU, meaning it's not usefull..

Dude I just bought the 1070 , I swapped for it after having two rx 580's , don't recommend them. Take the 1060 6gb and if you can buy the 1070 (like I did for 350 euros) I am from Poland and just get the card for further time.

Given this information, go with the 1060. Pascal is great with CAD and such.

Does the gtx 1070 also have pascal? =)

Pascal is the architecture of Nvidia's GTX 1000 series cards.

The review from techspot and the slightly lower price motivates me to buy the RX 580, but the functionality with CAD, 3d and Adobe programs frastrates me... at the end, is the performance that noticable? can one notice these +/- 5fps in the gameplay?

I want to do just that. Why you say i shouldn't pair it with the g4560?
