Don't know if I should change to a laptop

I was going to go with a great PC but some reasons forced me to lower the "greatness" of my PC.

I recently posted a thread http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3423987/change-build.html but then I had the idea.

That is not the best PC in the world. I thought that it would be good to go with a laptop (thinking of the MacBook Pro https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MF839LL/A&step=config# as its price is exactly my budget here in where I live). I will also be going to college after like 3 to 4 years so I thought a laptop would not be a bad idea.

I know that it is so strange for someone to change from a gaming PC to a MacBook Pro, but, it is what it is I guess.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

If you're going to be moving around A LOT, then a good laptop is a decent investment. I personally in college just did all my work in my apartment so I didn't need one. If that's the case with you i'd get the gaming PC and consider getting a light netbook or tablet later for whatever mobile work you need to do. If your laptop is never going to leave your desk, then get a desktop instead.

Well I hope you don't plan on gaming anymore, a macbook wont be very good for that unless you play very low demand games. I, and I think many people on here will tell you that the majority of apple products are absurdly overpriced for what you get. I mean look at that a dual core i5, 8gb of memory, and no dedicated gpu for 2000 dollars? Are you kidding me? If you just want it because it looks nice go for it, but as far as hardware is concerned you would get a lot more for your money looking elsewhere.

Thanks

I still I am not sure with what to go with. I will be doing programming and coding with the device, does that help narrow the factors?

Yeah I know apple seems really bad on paper. And although the price is not fully justifiable, you are paying for the experience that you are getting with the apple products more than performance.

Typically coders will value more screens than more CPU power, basic coding isn't hard to do or anything, but having to shuffle windows will slow you down the most.

Ahhh I really don't know what to choose.

I am guessing you are voting for the PC right?

Alright thanks.

So you're team PC right?

Eh, depends where you do your coding. They make "docking stations" for laptops (typically business model ones) that you basically just "plop" the laptop in when you get back home and it'll hook up to a mouse key board, and multiple monitors.

If you're only going to use the laptop for note taking, you don't need a big expensive one, you can get like a 300-500 netbook, and then use like Onedrive to sync your notes over wifi when you get home.

Yeah but the problem is that I don't want to go with a bad PC. Like I don't want to go below a 1060 for example.

Plus that options and prices are different in my country. Take a look at this thread I posted a while ago http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3423987/change-build.html . I can give you the links of the websites that I use in my country if you want to check for yourself.
