Hello

I have a SSD in my current rig which I recently bought an Samsung evo 850. But I'm also building a new rig which will be ready next week but I want to use my current ssd in the new rig.
Obviously the mobo has changed etc what is the best way to go about this?

Some have recommended just plug and play and Windows 10 will detect these changes?
Some suggest a clean install of Windows what is the best solution?

Thanks

The clean install is the safest option. You may get the SSD to boot in the new build but you run a lot of risks there and likely will invest a lot of time sorting and troubleshooting, only to end up doing a reinstall sooner than later.

If you can, you may opt to clone the SSD to an available and reformatted HDD. Then you can reformat your SSD and do the clean install. IF anything goes bad, you have the HDD as a backup boot/OS.

If you cleanly build the new system and install the OS on the SSD, you can then mount your HDD, with the OS intact, and move files over to the SSD or in some cases, depending on the apps, run them from the HDD. You have several options but the first best step is a new install.
