So I have been having a problem from my computer for a very long time. I will just start from the beginning. So I started having problems with my PC a couple years ago and it would shut down randomly. After it was off, I would turn it back on but it would turn off after only a couple seconds. So, I decided it may be a power issue and I bought a Corsair RM 850x power supply. After I installed this it worked for about six months and the issue started to come back. I started to give up and did. I then went to college and didn’t touch my PC for about 8 months. I came home last week and decided to give it a shot again. It worked great for about a week and the issue came back. I went to event viewer to see why it shut down. I doubt this will help but I got a Kernal Power error 41, task category 63. Thank you to anyone that can help me.

Well there can be plenty of reasons.

Did you maybe overclock your CPU at any point? If yes go to bios and check for voltage maybe it is to high.
2nd thing that might be happening is your PC need more power than your power supply provide it you did not list parts in your system. I don't believe RM 850 will have problem with any single GPU solution but if you have SLI or CF that could be the reason.
I can't provide any more info without knowing your whole system

I have re-installed Windows twice since the problem started and it has not fixed the issue. Also I don't know how I forgot to mention that the problem occurs mostly when I am playing games. It has however happened when I am not but that is a rare occurrence. Do you still think it is the power supply? Also thank you so much for your help!

In terms of power out put it can't be power supply your system would need to draw more than 850W from the wall and i don't think it can pull more than 400W but there is always chance that power supply have malfunction.

But potential problems can be different If i where you if power supply still have warranty use it.
There is one thing that can maybe help you can try it if you want go to bios and find cpu voltage (vcore) and rise it for 0.01 maybe 0.015 do same for ram voltage rise by only 1-2 smallest units that you can not more and see does it still shut down.

Hi sorry it took me so long to update you. I just got my new PSU under warranty today. I also replaced the hard drive because I think it was failing. I reinstalled Windows after putting in the new PSU. It worked fine while I was installing everything. Then when I went to play a game it froze again. I tried again and it froze after about 10 minutes of playing.
