Hello friends, after switching my old cpu (amd4300) to this new one (fx 8350) my mobo said it does not support the new cpu. Does this mean I need a new mobo? If I purchase a new mobo, do I purchase one with the exact same socket types?

My current mobo is a GA-78LMT-ST rev 1.2 and the cpu support list shows 8300 and 8370E but no 8350, which I thought was sorta odd. Might they come out with support for it, or is it impossible?

Please let me know of some mobos you think could support my cpu if you have suggestions, thank you!:)

The thermal design power (TDP), sometimes called thermal design point, is the maximum amount of heat generated by a computer chip or component (often the CPU or GPU) that the cooling system in a computer is designed to dissipate in typical operation.

Your motherboard does not support AMD FX CPUs over 95 watts TDP. FX 8350 is 125w TDP.

The lack of support is for 125w CPUs. You can likely find a bios that will allow it to boot, but it'll eventually wear the vrms out on the board and cause the CPU to throttle when no temp reads high. Could happen on day one could happen 2 years from now but on that board it will happen.

8300 and 8370e are both 95w CPUs and won't draw so hard on the crap power delivery system of that board.
