Good budget build?

You will want faster RAM if you are building with Ryzen. You could probably drop to 8gb of RAM if you wanted to save some money and you would likely not miss much in performance. I would also suggest dropping to the 1400 as it can OC to the 1500x level just the same. I would also suggest getting a SSD as a boot drive. I would not build a PC today without an SSD for the OS.

I'd go with a Pentium G4560 for the sort of build you are looking at.

I also added an SSD, and a lower-wattage (but still very good) PSU

Solution

I do love the price of the hyper threaded Pentium, it is just tough for me to recommend dual core CPU for gaming these days. But, then again it is for a 9 year old. lol

I have to confess, last year I built my son a pc with a i5 6500, and he is only 3. So my wife tells me that sometimes I get carried away. lol

Hi, For a 9 year old you say? I wish I had a dad like you lol.
Anyways, This is what I've thrown together.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BFF7Fd Alot of compromises to keep it nice and cheap, but a system like this is highly upgradeable. When things start getting sluggish you can add more RAM, overclock the pentium, or just change it to a core i5 or an i7. The PSU is enough for a low to mid range graphics card from the next AMD, or nvidia series. GL with the build!

You cant overclock the Pentium. But it is still a good chip for the money.
