ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 HDMI port not working

Good morning, afternoon, evening to everyone,

My problem is simple, when i plug in my hdmi cable to my GPU nothing happens. There is no sign of any kind that my monitor is picking anything up.
Is there a way to virtually represent my GPU on my computer and see if the gpu even "knows" it has that port ?
Is there a way to know for sure if it's broke or misaligned ?

To answer some of the obvious first steps :
-My drivers are up to date,
-I did unplug and replug my GPU
-I did a full computer formatting a week ago problem was the same before and after so i doubt the drivers have anything to do with it (I may and hope im wrong).
-The hdmi cables are used elsewhere with no issue.
-The same hdmi cable WILL transmit from my laptop to my monitor (So it's not the monitor or cables).

I have had the card for 2 years and until the warranty ran out i never had a chance to use the hdmi port so I don't know if it ever worked.
I am currently using my DVI cable from the GPU to my monitor, which works perfectly. My games work fine so the card itself is perfectly functional.

my setup:
Win 10 64bit OS
AMD FX 8320 8-core 3.50GHz
ASRock 970 Extreme3 (mobo)
ASUS NVidia GeForce GTX 970 4Gb
8Gb ram

If you have Nvidia drivers installed, right click somewhere on your desktop and you should see the Nvidia control panel icon to click (small green Nvidia logo). Here's an example of what it will look like:

Now this is all assuming your monitor is compatible with the HDMI 2.0 output from the video card. (I overlooked the last part of your post where you said you were running DVI currently).

Sounds like it's a bad HDMI port on the card. The exact same thing happened to me on one of my SLI'd EVGA 970s. Use a different connection type (display port or DVI) and go into the Nvidia control panel and look at how it sees the ports on your GPU (it will be a graphic of the end of the GPU with all the ports as if you were looking at it from the back). It should list them all as the ports are attached to the card's PCB even if one is dead. Now if it does not see the HDMI port and it is missing on the diagram, then it's a serious failure tied to the card itself and not just a bad output port.

if you look around you see a lot of 900 cards with port issues . seems just one of them unlucky things with that series . gigabyte seemed to have a lot of them

just some examples from toms ??

maybe try another cable or one thats at least hdmi 2.0 [or resent revision hdmi cable]

I am somehow unable to find that diagram you are mentioning and it's exactly what i was looking for.

Yeah i saw all those threads but I was stupid and hoped i was the exception that had an easy fix. I guess what I am really trying to get is a solid confirmation that the port will not work. I have two HDMI 2.0 cables tried and tested on other devices.

even like at evga forums you see a few with this all I know it seems just one of them things - I got a 900 card as well and fingers crossed , but I so far only used the dvi on it ??? heck for all I know my cards hdmi or display port maybe bad as well ??? just so far never needed to use them to see

may try a dvi-I[card] to hdmi [ monitor] cable - that's what I use works well
