Good day everyone,

I have another thread relating to a GPU HDMI port Issue and because of that and other reasons i would like to upgrade my GPU.

The purpose is gaming.

I currently have:
8GB ram
Windows 10 64bit OS
ASRock 970 Extreme3 (mobo)
AMD FX 8320 8-core 3.50GHz
ASUS NVidia GeForce GTX 970 4Gb

I was thinking all I really need is more ram and the GPU. Any thoughts on that ?
I prefer to use NVidia as I am familiar with them.

Let me know if some details are missing.

Thank you for any advice,
Tropicop

As mentioned above, the bottleneck of that 8320 is going to be a major factor. Unless you really need the upgrade to the 970, you need to consider a move to new 6k+ series Intel, or a Ryzen chip. For $500, you could get a pretty decent Ryzen build going, with the R5 1600, B350 Tomahawk, and 16 gb of ddr4 ram.

Next step up is a 1070. A sidegrade would be a 1060 6gb or rx 580.

I am hoping to stay around $500 if I have to change more than just the GPU.
