Hi, my question:

When traveling with my computer will packing clothes inside the case potentially short out the mobo? I realize this is not the ideal way to travel, but I'm extremely poor and I need to pack my computer in with my clothes. I don't have a graphics card, everything is built into the motherboard so there is tons of extra space inside the computer case. I'm thinking of putting some shirts or something in there, but I'm worried about shorting out the motherboard or something else.

Sorry if this is a noob question, thank you =)

My computer:

ASRock FM2A75 PRO4-M
AMD A10-6800K
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
CORSAIR CX430M Power Supply

Solution
Don't pack any clothes inside your PC case.
You should 1) remove the HDD, even back up your files or games first if you want. The games for steam https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-YPHV-2033 or for EA http://www.gamepur.com/guide/26344-origin-how-backup-and-restore-games.html. 2) Because you don't have the heavy cpu cooler, or GPU. So you are fine with that. 3) just put your PC into the car, and the position should be the motherboard side lying flat on the bottom. Also put other stuff around the PC so that it will not move around inside your car when you drive.
I suppose it is always possible. If they are full of static electricity it could happen. A bigger concern is snagging and breaking. If you need boxes. Grocery stores and liquor stores often have a glut of boxes that they have to throw out and will happily let you take as many empty boxes as you want.

You can't short out something that doesn't have power to it. I wouldn't shove clothes in the case however, ram still sticks up and could be broken, also it could break the CPU fan header it any other header. It's not bad to move one just don't put stuff that doesn't belong in the case.

There is zero need to pack clothes inside the case. As long as you have actually assembled it correctly, things won't move around.

My standard rant on this:
Shipping/moving
The life of a PC, from construction to your living room:
Factory -> conveyor belt -> forklift -> warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> forklift -> shipping container -> ship -> ocean -> big giant forklift thing to grab the shipping container -> ground -> forklift -> truck -> warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> Newegg warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> distro warehouse -> forklift -> truck -> local UPS center -> forklift -> truck all day in the summer heat (or winter cold) -> UPS guy drops it (literally) on your porch.

And you're worried about a couple of miles in the back of the car?

It was more of a space issue, space is pretty tight and I thought I could save some room by putting some clothes or something in there. Sounds like it might be a bad idea though =P Thanks! =)

Free space inside a PC case is maybe 2 T-shirts, tightly rolled.

Oh maybe my computer case is bigger than most, I feel like I could fit a lot more clothes than that. Regardless it sounds like its not worth the risk. I was just curious.
