Hi, everyone. Here's a link to my current PCPartPicker list if it helps any: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j6fXqk

Anyways, I've read through legions of questions similar to this one, and I'm strongly attracted to the performance of the AMD offerings this time around, especially since I'm hoping for some degree of future-proofing until 2020 or so. The community seems to favor the RX cards, so I naturally was going to go for one of the 8 GB 480 offerings.

Problem is, it seems that the cryptocurrency miners or the gaming crowd at large made a run on every single dealer while I wasn't looking, so all the Radeon cards I've looked at are either out of stock entirely or are on a 1 to 3 month backorder. The few cards I can find on Amazon or Newegg that are in-stock or available soon are out of my price range now, so I'm starting to lean back towards a 1060 6 GB because I'm rather impatient and working against the clock before college shreds my wallet again.

So, the question is: is the 1060 a good option for the forseeable future on a 1080p or possible 1440p setup with DX12 on the horizon, or should I just bite the bullet and hope to find an RX 480 or 580?

My budget is in the $900-950 range, so if you happen to find a way to fit a 1070 in somehow I'm all ears.

I don't see a problem with the rx 580 they are widely available everywhere. Also here it is with a 1070.
