Hi,so,today,to run a Kaspersky Rescue CD to perform an external complete analysis of my computer I entered my Lenovo G500 BIOS.
Thing is I cannot access the advanced options,as Boot Order, and there are only two options but not even the hardrive shows up.
So I tried entering the Windows 10 advanced setup, but it doesn't recognize a USB device neither a CD/DVD.
I've also tried opening the boot menu, which neither recognizes USB or CD/DVD.
(I use Unetbootin and I've used the Kaspersky utility this time to make the ISO image bootable and I've tried it in Virtual Machines)

*Screenshots: http:// (3rd image,2nd option,it's in Spanish)

According to some research that I've done I assume that the Insydeh Setup Utility advanced options are locked.
But are the Windows 10 locked too or what's wrong?
I wonder if there's some "easy" or other option that may not damage my computer/BIOS as I use it everyday but I want to be able to boot a USB device or CD/DVD when I need to.

PD:I haven't had any problems such as "Windows doesn't recognize the USB device" or related.

when you install software on to a USB stick you need to make sure it is bootable just copying a program to a USB stick will not make it bootable you need a third party application which will put the software on to the USB stick

here look at this software made for making USB sticks bootable (https://rufus.akeo.ie/)

Ah,yes, I know and I've done that as I said in the line "I use Unetbootin(which is a software) and I've used Karspersky Utility this time to make the ISO image bootable". Maybe it's not clear at all but I think you can get it

Well I may have missed that but also WHY do you need to use Kaspersky rescue CD and if you have a CD drive and some spare CD's (preferably a DVD would be better) which you do not use then maybe use that as CD's are bound to be read by the BIOS boot options

Man,really? have u read the post?
I say that it is an ISO image,so I don't have the CD. I have tried another CD, a W7 installation one to check if system reads it but it doesn't, so I CAN NOT BOOT ANY USB OR CD/DVD.
I need to use Karspersky rescue CD because as said,to perform a complete analysis of the computer, but not in the O.S because some malware may interfer it. To complete clean it.
So,please,if you can't give me any ideas on how to make the Boot Menu show the USB/CD DVD device or the BIOS options to show Boot Order stop replying.

I know its a year late but hopefully it might help someone.
So I had a similar issue and just as little answers. I am using an Acer laptop with win 10. I had a windows 10 bootable usb on a usb3, which I know works because I installed my current system on it.
I was wanting to do some checks outside of windows and wanted to boot into a live linux os on usb. I had 3 different sticks, 2 different softwares to make them bootable and 2 linux iso. None of them worked. I took them to work, and had the usb tested with our IT guy, at least two of the usbs booted.
So usbs were not the problem.
Only option I had not changed was in the bios - Legacy or UEFI.
Once boot option was changed to legacy, I had the option to boot to usb and linux loaded up - I just need to check keyboard operation (whether win driver was corrupted) or physical hardware damage - turned out to be hardware.
I removed the usb, expecting to boot into the hard disk. Nope, it gave me some 'APX' controller error (or something like that). So back to bios to change to UEFI and once again, usbs were not recognised but booted into win10 again.

So it seems to be a compatibility error between UEFI and Legacy boots. I did not check at the time if the harddrives were visible under the linux os unfortunately, sorry.

But if you are looking to boot up via usb, try changing the bios boot option to legacy.
