Hi all, I just recently changed my case to NZXT S340 and when I tested everything the audio won't work on front panel and on the motherboard. I diagnosed everything but it didn't work.

I checked the motherboard if some of the resistors on the audio area are chipped but they all look good.

I checked the front panel audio connector and it was fine.

It only works when I disconnect the front panel audio.

Reinstalled Windows, didn't work.
I reinstalled the drivers, didn't work.

I checked the Asus Realtek HD audio manager and it thinks there is something plugged in the front panel (there nothing inside the aux port).

My speakers are usually plugged in at the back of the case.

supports Jack-detection, Front Panel Jack-retasking
Your wiring is good its just software . The ports can be retasked to form 8.1 surround sound .

The normal scenario is when you plug something in front its set to mute the rear as its normally headphones in the front.
Change speaker configuration .

Like it only works on the front panel (When HD Audio header is plugged into motherboard. There is only one cable and it says 'HD Audio' and there was only one audio port so I just plugged it in.

So let me get this straight . If you just plug speakers into rear it works yes?
Do you leave the speakers plugged in when your pluging something in the front?

1) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
2) Realtek Digital Output

Digital output will use spdif or coaxial connection at the rear not the speaker jack. ( in some cases it uses the speaker jack but a different plug that reaches deeper to a digital port through the same hole. What motherboard are you using?
