Bought this desktop 8 months ago. Installed a samsung 850 ssd hard drive. Worked really fast and reliable for those 8 months. I always updated my system from the supplied HP support software. Then I updated the Bios their latest .
Now the computer will not boot past the hp logo. Mmmmmmm. Well I hooked up the original Toshiba hard drive and it boots fine. Swap out the sata cable again to the ssd drive, wont boot past hp logo.

Spent many hours with tech support from India. They said to send it in for warranty repair. Which I did only to have it sent back with a note from them saying 3rd party hardware not supported. (WHAT!!) They reconnected the sata cable back to the slow Toshiba hard drive and sent it back.
After many more days and countless hours with HP support they basically tell me they cant help me because I swapped out to a hard drive that didnt come from the Factory. But everything worked till the bios update from HP. I have talked to Samsung and they agree its a faulty bios. They said their ssd drives are compatible with all HP computers.
I tried to roll back the bios doing the windows key and B button, f9, f10 all the f keys. with the original hard drive connected I can get to the bios . But that did not work. When the ssd drive connected I cannot access the bios at all.

Hp refuses to accept responsibility for a bad bios. I have talked the tech supervisor and they tell I`m SOL. I am not a happy Hp customer. I have 3 other older HP computers with Samsung ssd in them working fine. And 2 other brand computers I have installed the same ssd drives in that work fine .I even bought a brand new Samsung ssd thinking I messed the 1st one up . But the new one does the same thing.
This is the last time I buy a HP anything.
Own up to a bad bios HP.
any suggestions, other than buy a Dell?

I would try reinstalling the BIOS and see if you have any luck. If not HP does have previous versions of the BIOS that are usually available for download, and some times it will allow you to roll back to a certain version.

It also might be though that your Windows installation on your SSD became corrupt. You could try to wipe your SSD and reinstall Windows and see if that resolves the issue.

Sorry to hear about your issue with HP and the non-supported hardware. I always have to be careful at work to make sure to switch everything back before I send it to the depot.

I reinstalled the updated bios and it didnt work, tried an older version bios and it said the bios was not campatible .I did wipe the ssd and recloned windows and it still will not boot. When I enter the bios with the old drive installed the only choice is AHCI under the storage options. I even tried using the ssd drive hooked up as a usb hard drive , changed the boot order and it would not boot. Something in the updated bios does not like the samsung ssd. The only I have not tried is a different manufactuer ssd brand.

For your future reference there seems to be an issue at the moment with Samsung SSD's and inability to boot.
Any other SSD is fine.
