I have a dell inspiron 660s motherboard in a Lenovo case so I can use bigger gpus. My usual card is a rx 460 but I have a extra hd 7850 laying around. So when I put the card in my computer everything is fine - dell bios logo then windows logo with spirally thing then blackness. The monitor doesn't go into power save mode, it just goes black. It's a lit up kind of black

Need to list power supply brand and model as well as some details about what you are doing and tried already. Did this work and stop working? Do both cards not work? Try different ports on the cards? A newer card like an RX 460 may not run on an OEM motherboard properly. Did you check for a newer BIOS?

The RX 460 is the card that I normally keep in my computer. I just tested the 7850 on a different mother board with drifferent hard drive and it worked just fine. I'm unistalling RX 460 driver right now to see if it might have driver conflict. Also my PSU is a BFG 550 Watt PSU

UPDATE
That didn't work

How would testing a video card in another computer help you? You need to test it in the one with the issue. Or are you leaving out some details here? The power supply is not bad, just a bit older now.

You need to list some details, are you setting up a new build? Did the card work before in this computer? Start at the beginning and what you tried already.

I built my current computer a few months ago. Its actually a dell mobo in a Lenovo case. I bought the RX 460 so I could do some gaming with decent settings. I've had the 7850 for 3 years now and used it quite a bit until I got the 460. The 7850 layed around until I actually figured out that the 7850 was better performance than 460. So I went to put the card in my current build and now its not working in this pc. The pc it was originally ran in was a core 2 duo. My current build is a i3 2120

So looks like the system was working, and had the RX 460 in it, then you went to swap it fro the 7850 and now have no display after Windows loads.

Boot up with the RX 460, delete the AMD drivers, shut down, install the 7850, then install the drivers again.

As far as speed, the cards are very equal, but you can test them yourself once they are both working in the system.

Thats not working either. Could the mobo not be accepting the card?

If it works up till Windows loads, it's not likely the motherboard but something with the drivers. Does it work with the RX 460 or do both cards not work now? Try resetting the BIOS to defaults by pulling the CMOS battery for 10 seconds with the system unplugged.

The RX 460 works perfect. I'm using the pc I'm having the problem with right now with the 460 in it. Bios reset didn't work
