Hi, everyone, I was wondering if I what you guys think the 1 terabyte best external hard drive. I want a drive that is going to reliable, durable, quiet, fast and runs cool. Having a durable and reliable is the most important, though. The physical size of the drive does not matter and it does not have to be portable. I will be using the drive to store system image backups. I was looking at the Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Slim , Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB, Seagate Expansion 1TB , WD 1TB Black USB 3.0 My Passport, and WD 1TB Black My Passport Ultra. My operating system is Windows 10 64 bit. Lastly should I use the backup software built into windows or should I use the software that comes with the drives. Thank you, hope you guys can help me.

Anything that is not 'encrypted' with whatever junk they use, and whatever does not force you to use their "backup" crap.

Any external, in whatever size meets you requirements and budget, and meets the above 2 conditions.

To do backups to this drive?
Macrium Reflect.

What about Acronis True Image WD edition?

For software?
I have no specific experience with it, but that will probably work.

Can it be used with other drives?

Since I have a WD Caviar Blue 1 TB internal Drive in my computer as my main boot disk, so I can use it. Do you know if the Seagate Expansion comes with any software on it or is there software I can download from Seagate's website? Also, can the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) on Windows 10 do incremental Backups? How does the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) compare to Acronis True Image WD edition and Macrium Reflect?
