How to do power connecterers on 570 radeon?

We're installing a AMD Radeon 570 graphics card. I put the card in but not sure if I did the power connectors right. The card came with cord that connects to the graphics card with an 8 pin connector and splits two 6 pin female connectors. The computer has two 6x2 connectors. I wasn't sure if it mattered which 6 pin I plugged into which. I plugged them in the easiest way I could position them but even then I had to twist them a little for them to line up. Does it matter which 6 pin goes into which? Is there any potential to damage my computer if it is done wrong? Is it fine to just leave the extra 2 pins on the computers 6x2 pin connectors connected to nothing?
Here are some pictures. Sorry about the crappy quality.

You should be okay with what you did, and no, the two unused pins from the PCI connector won't do any harm, and nothing will be done to them. Although in the long run the wires might start showing wear if too much pressure is applied to them when you said you had to twist them, that's the only potential problems I'd think you will run into, and I highly doubt that would even happen. Nice job with your build and best of luck, work, and gaming!
