I installed a evga geforce gtx 1050 ti ssc on my Gateway DX4870-UB20P and have not been able to get the gpu to work. Is it possible that my mobo isnt compatible with this gpu? I plug the gpu in and turn on the machine. It shows the splash screen in half the monitor, makes a series of beeps before it boots up to windows log in. It takes 10 minutes or so to get to that screen. I have downloaded the latetest drivers for this gpu and windows wont use it. Windows determines that the generic driver is best. I have also tried using DDU.exe to clean up the machine and that still did nothing. I also tried to update my bios but cant seem to find a bios flash newer than 2012. Now two weeks later. I have upped my memory to 14gb, psu to 650 watts and now it wont even let me log in. Boot stops on windows splash screen and wont reach log in. Not sure what to do now.

The power supply is my first suspect. That card doesn't demand much power, but that won't matter if your PSU has no power to give. Pre-built computers are made to be low cost for the most part, which means low cost components are used, and the power supply is almost always included in that.

Shut the computer off and open it up. Look at the label on the PSU. How many watts, it'll be a number like "300W", and how many amps on the 12V output is it rated for? It'll look like "14A".

Hi there, did you find a solution? I'm on the same boat, there is no option in BIOS to deactivate the internal video driver. Not sure what to do :(

Gateway locks thier Bios and don't allow for upgrades unless you purchase them through Gateway. It's a way to keep mistakes made by owners down to a minimum. So I bought another mother board to solve the problem.
