Hello.

I have Virgin broadband 200. checked speed and its really fast: DOWNLOAD 219.16 Mbps
http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6330414533

But when i use bit-comet or another downloading programs i cant get max speed out.
Tried everything - used information how to configure bitcomet . but max so far what i got out was 5700 kB/s for very short time on bit-comet. Avarige goes about 3600 kB/s but should be 200 Mbps = 25000 kB/s

I know i need to make sure that there is enough people who is shearing that file to achieve that speed.

Can anyone advise please how can i download large files on max speed ?

Thanks

So that multiple things can be happening at the same time.
For instance...
If the max you can get from somewhere is 10megabits down.
If you have a connection speed of 15megabits down, no problem.
If you add 9 other people to that 15mbps connection, then you have a problem.

If you have a 200megabit download performance, then those 10 people, all doing that at the same time, is no problem.

The issue is...the ISP advertises that as something you...

Ugh, Bitvomit.

The issue is that speedtest can test your connection. Downloading from servers means you are at the whim of the server/peers and they might not be able to fill your connection. There is nothing wrong and you can't configure your way out of this. If the peers you are downloading from can only upload at 50kB, that's your download speed. If they can do 200kB, that's what you can do. Sites like speed test can test your connection, they will show you the max. Otherwise you are simply at he whim of whatever you are downloading from.

Vrumor, while you have a good point, as (another....) reminder leave the moderating to us. The general policy here is to presume innocence. While bittorrent is normally used for illegal uses, it does have legit ones as well. A member talking about his torrenting isn't enough to shut a thread down.

So what's the point to have so quick 200 Internet then if people can't fill it full or get out most potential. Is there any better programs then bitcomet for torrent downloads? What if I use bitcomet and uturent in same time and try to download different files. I think I will try

You only need it if you actually do.
But they are very good at manipulating user perceptions and faked 'need'.

Again, Vrumor was right. There are only so many Linux distros one can download...

What's the point? The biggest point is so that your entire family can enjoy fast speeds. I've had 6MB DSL before. As long as I'm the only one using it it was fine to have. But if you have a spouse, kids, roommates, or friends who show up with their phones that 6MB is going to feel really slow/small really fast. Even 30-45MB should be enough for ~5people at the same time. Unless you live in a college frat house. I personally feel 100MB or higher is just a waste. I wouldn't pay extra for more speed like that because as you said, what's the point? You'll never get that speed downloading a single file or from a single source. And most of us just don't download that much stuff from different places.

I currently have 75/75 fiber.
Why?
Because it is the same price as my previous 50/50, which was the same price as the previous 25./25.
Upgrade every couple of years, for the same price.
Sure.

I even considered dropping the speed down from the current 75/75. But that would have not resulted in any significant monthly savings, so it is what it is.

I have the option for gigabit speed from Verizon. Currently, the price increase is completely not worth it. For me.
Next year, when my 2 year price lock-in is up...we shall see.

But the 75/75 serves me completely.

Downloading a full Linux distro in 1 minute vs 10 minutes makes little difference.

There is a guy I know at work who is on a 150MB plan I think. Same reason as you. They keep upping his speed without upping the price, so why not. I'm on a 50MB plan here I think, and I'm really the only user. My GF's daughter does a lot of netflix, but that doesn't use tons of bandwidth. And my GF just plays poker and FB. If my memory serves we are just using the cheapest bundle plan our cable company offers, it used to be 30MBs, now it's 50.
