Dell vostro 260

Solution

Technically it should be as that model desktop was offered in an i5 2400 variant. However, knowing Dell, they may have locked the BIOS down where you can't upgrade the chip. You can take a gamble and buy a 2500K and hope it works or you can contact Dell's support forums and ask. Good luck. I'm still using my i5 2500K gaming build built back in 2011 as a backup/general use PC. I've never run a PC build in regular use for 6 years. Shows you how strong Sandy Bridge was/is.
