Laptop Processor Swapping?

Is it possible to swap a laptop processor from an Intel Core i3-3227U CPU @1.9GHz laptop processor to an Intel Core i5-520M CPU @2.4GHz 3 MB Dual Core Mobile Processor on a Windows 8.1 2013 Edition laptop?

i don't think so ... they plug into different sockets and the wattage is hugely different.

i3-3227U uses BGA1023 .... 17 watt

i5-520M uses BGA1288, PGA988 ... 35 watt

In addition, the BGA socket CPU is soldered directly to the motherboard.

So no...you can't change that.

Either of these 2 might work ... if the bios and motherboard support them ... at least the socket and wattage matches the i3.

Core i5-3437U 2 4 1.9 GHz 2.9 GHz 512KB 3MB 17W

I'm not sure how noticeable the difference would be until the cpu kicked into 'turbo mode'

Yeah..I just did a device specs test, and found that my CPU is a BGA, so I'd have to replace the whole motherboard to change it. Meh. I'll just stick with a $500 laptop instead. Thanks for the help anyways guys.
