Very strange folder naming behaviour

Hi everyone,

A very strange Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1 behavior started this evening. If I type the name of a new folder with commas separating words Windows deletes the last word of the full name.

For example, if I am to name a folder "the.new.dream", Windows deletes "dream" since it is the word after the last comma. Now if I rename it again "the.new.dream" it works and the full name is kept.

It seems this happens with folder names and not file names.

Also, I found one folder with many subfolders having multiple commas in their names and all of them got this strange transformation as all of each folder's last word were deleted.

Restarted and disk checked but still the problem is there.

This also happens with Winrar extracting to a folder.

Any ideas please?

Verry sorry I think I am sleepy lol. I ment periods.

I found something new. If I browse to the folder in question in an "open file" dialog from Photoshop for example the folder name shows correctly.

Moreover, showing properties of the folder in question shows :

Type :File folder (.dream)

Hi again.

I found something new, using a third party explorer like XYPlorer displays all folder names correctly.

Seems that the folder name display issue is only with Windows Explorer.

Any ideas?
