Hi guys, I'm trying to overclock for the first time. My build for everything is:
ryzen 1600
MSI b350 Tomahawk
Corsair h115i
G. Skill aegis 2400mhz

Now, it's my first time overclocking and I tried overclocking within the BIOS but I couldn't figure it out from there. I have MSI command center and I don't know if I can overclock from there or not. If I can, great! How do I do that? If I can't, great! How do I do it from the BIOS?

YouTube is your friend. That's probably the most common am4 board sold I suspect there are dozens of vidoes showing exactly what to use and where it is on there. They can give you and better idea I can in text.if you're on stock cooler I suggest stopping at 3.7 or 3.6ghz

I have the msi command center. Is this the same as the ryzen master?

Here is an image of Ryzen master. Its possiable that MSI packaged into their command center.

So at the bottom where it says 1 next to C I click on it and adjust my CPU to whichever OC setting i desire? And i dont have to worry about going to 2 at the bottom of the application and set the clocks to the right frequency?

You can save up to five custom profiles for Ryzen in the Master utility. Thats what those are. Once you got it set just click on save profile. Here is video at the start it show how to set Ryzen Master which is simple. The rest is on bios overclock if you ever want to push overclocking to its limit.

So let me ask you this: When I'm done with the overclocking and I save it, do I need to restart my computer and go into the bios to make sure everything is working properly?

It varies you have to test using prime95 small cpu test. With your cooler I would think 3.9Ghz at the least. What overclock is stable with 1.35v you just have to test and see. Put it to 3.9Ghz and test and if you get no errors or crashes then go 4Ghz. Test again and if all is well I suggest smaller increases. The 1.35v is about the highest safe voltage and 4.1Ghz probably will not be stable.

On the topic of prime95, I honestly dont know how to use it correctly. Is there a link on youtube you know that would explain it better?

Never mind I found everything out for prime95. Do I need to do 12 to 24 hours worth of testing with prime95?

With water cooling it takes a bit to warm up so 20~30 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes for water to warm up so an extra 10~20 minutes should be enough to test stablity. Games wouldn't push your CPU as much so doesn't take long to be reasonably sure of stable operation.

High Precision Event Timer usally is in the advanced tab under integrated pheripherals on MSI motherboards. The command prompt in windows 7 just click on start>all programs>accessories to see command prompt. The right click on command prompt to select run as admin.
