Whenever I alt-tab out of a game, my FPS drops significantly

I'm usually getting fairly high FPS in games I play. I typically alt-tab whenever I'm doing so. When I alt-tab back into the game, my FPS has dropped from 80 to 20. And it's across all games, the only solution I've discovered is to restart my computer whenever it happens. It get's extremely irritating because I can't play a single round without having to restart my computer.

My computer wasn't always like this, it started to occur randomly a few months ago. Now it won't go away.

That sounds like your computer is failing to reassign the resources to your game when you make it the active window again. That's an odd bug. Why are you alt-tabbing every round?

Is it using the new Game Mode with that game? If so, try disabling it. If not, try enabling it. One or the other may help.

It's not just that game, it's among all games. I can also tell a lowered performance while watching videos.

Does it stay dropped or does it drop for one second and go back to normal? When I tab back into a game it will be low for the first frame and then jump right back up.
